Nat Noted - Nov. 19/12

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Unless, you're in the U.S., then you're planning for Thanksgiving!   ;-)

The blogosphere is filled with thankful layouts and cards and banners and place holders, but I did manage to find five projets you will love!!

1. Up first is this stunning bottle cap advent calendar from Maya Road.

2. Evgenia Petzer just joined Bo Bunny's design team. I love this card she made using the Love Letters collection. Can't to see what else she creates!

3. Love this Christmas diorama that Jen Chesnick made using LYB's Once Upon a Christmas collection.

 4. Lilith Eckles is fast becoming my favourite designer and this layout provides a good distraction from the Thanksgiving and Christmas projects. ;-) That combination of grey and yellow is amazing. I also love the layering on this layout.

5. I love coffee and bought a super cute coffee cup mini-album so I can document my love of java. So you can imagine how excited I was to see this amazing art journal page. So many great ideas here!

I hope you have a wonderful week!

Nat Noted Supersized - Nov. 12/12

My life got in the way of blogging, but I'm baaaack. ;-)

For me November is all about Movember. So far, the moustaches on the dudes around me are barely visible, but I'm sure the entertainment value will grow. You can donate here to help save the other half of the species.

I am also gearing up for Christmas, of course, and even started making Christmas cards. Let the countdown begin!

1. Love this Christmas card by Andrea Budjack.

2. Here's another Christmas card by Lea L. She used PURLPLE and Prima's Firefly collection! Genius!!

3. You may know that I am a big fan of Cari Fennell from Prima. She designed this beautiful card with Prima's North Country collection. Wouldn't you love to get this card? (No pressure, Cari...)

4. I was too young to really enjoy the '70s (and that may be a good thing), but just old enough to remember all the good parts (like the funky guitar, The Jackson 5, and the gold lamé). This may explain why I am so attracted to Heidi Swapp's disco hearts. So cute!

5. Irene Tan aka Scrapperlicious made this awesome bracelet using Bo Bunny's Serenity collection.

6. Love Nora's tealights decorated with washi tape!

7. Lilith Eckles used dark colours (and a great combination of colours) on this layout, but still managed to make it look delicate. Can you tell those splashes were made with a stamp?

8. I think this 7 Gypsies tray would be a great gift to give to the men in our lives and all those non-crafty types who don't always appreciate all those artistic touches we lovingly apply to our projects.

10. Noell Hyman from Paperclipping has a great post on using the paper you have. If you have the mountains of paper collections I do, you know how important it is to use what you have. And before CHA Winter 2013 comes around! ;-) I love this tip of altering your background paper.

13. Becky Higgins posted 10 photo ideas from her childhood. I especially like her suggestion about photographing breakfast.

14. Pantone chose this colour, Tangerine Tango, has the 2012 Color of the Year. I love it, but I feel a little guilty because I should have used this colour more. Well, 2012 ain't over yet and this colour is very delicious.

15. Beautiful. Simple. Well stated.

Nat Noted -- Oct. 22/12

Hallowe'en is just around the corner. I know this from all of the blog posts on Hallowe'en decorations, Hallowe'en cards, Hallowe'en layouts and Hallowe'en inspirations.

Don't get me wrong, I love Hallowe'en. I just don't have time to decorate my house and I have no idea who would want a Hallowe'en card. ;-)

There were a few things I liked online this week and, yes, I did include one Hallowe'en decoration. <sheepish grin>

1. Fancy Pants has the best altered objects. I love this trick or treating bucket .

2. All of Julia Stainton's cards are beautiful, but this one is stunning. I love how she used leftover scraps and embellies. I am totally inspired!

3. Noell Hyman from Paperclipping has a great post reminding us to organize our scrap space before the holiday chaos. Just as I was thinking where I would find the time, she writes: "Take what time you have left to get organized so your mind will be clear and your space will be ready." I feel like Noell is speaking to me directly! LOL!

4. I love this vintage envelope created by Anna Dabrowska aka Finnabair. She also posted a tutorial on the Sizzix UK blog.

5. I need this.

That's it for this week. See you soon!!

Nat Noted - Oct. 8/12

Happy Thanksgiving! On this day, I am thankful for the gift of health and for my family & friends, and for all of the creativity that surrounds me.

I found a few things online which I hope you will like.

1. October 6th was World Card Making Day. I made a cute retirement card and participated in the Bo Bunny Blog Hop. There were a ton of great cards online this weekend, but these were my favourite.

2. Tim Holtz announced that the Seasonal Distress Inks are now part of the distress colour palette. This means that you can now buy the seasaonl inks separately unless, like me, you already have them all. ;-)

3. Lifestyle Crafts previewed a new product -- the Genius Ultimate Platform. It comes out in the Spring, but I know I already want it! These platforms fit in the Big Shot, the Vagabond and the Cuttlebug. I love that they're magnetic and include one self-healing mat and one embossing mat. Aren't you curious now?

4. Becky Higgins celebrated the 3rd year of Project Life with classes and giveaways and these mobile backgrounds. I haven't quite figured out how to change the background on my iPhone to one of these cool backgrounds. Maybe my 9-year old son can help. LOL!!!

54. Debbie Hodge from Get It Scrapped! loves lists more than I do. This week, she blogged about using menswear patterns, such as houndstooth, chevron, herringbone, and pinstripes, in scrapbooking layouts.

6. May Flaum took the Stamp and Show Challenge to turn something into rustification (anything that looks like rust). She altered a white foam pumpkin and leaves with Dylusions, Tim Holtz alcoholic inks, distress inks and crackle paint, and various paints from Claudine Hellmuth, Jenni Bowlin, and Adirondack. May Flaum's directions are very clear, which instantly makes me feel like I could do this project.

7. Vicki Chrisman from Miss Fancy Pants made hanging luminaries from the Summer's End line. I'm thinking this would be a great project to make with the kids!

8. Sometimes pictures online do not do a layout or a card or a project or a product justice. I think this is true for Pink Paislee's Portfolio collection. I liked it. But I didn't love it probably because the colours looked too muted online. Then, I got to use the collection at Crop & Create and it is stunning in person! These pictures at Moxie Fab World will give you a hint of how amazing Portfolio is.

9. I really love handmade calendars. And I really want to make one for my office because it will remind of my family and that little obession/hobby/passion of mine. :-) I love the calendar Corrie Jones made. Every page is filled with great techniques and a bit of whimsy too.

10. David Kelley gave a great TED talk on creative confidence. The video is a little over 11 minutes long, but you will love every word.

I hope you have a week filled with creative people and projects.

See you next week!

Nat Noted -- October 1/12

Hello! This is Natalie. I'm a part-time blogger, half-time scrapbooker and full-time mom.

"Nat Noted" will be coming to you every week on this blog. I'm so happy to be able to share all of the interesting paper crafting ideas, tips, tools, techniques, and other cool things that I find online. I would love to hear of any sites or blogs that you keep up with.

So without further ado, here are 12 of things I found online that I had to share with you. I hope you like them!

1. I love the cover of this mini-album. Kerryn Lawson did an awesome job painting and distressing the chipboard to make it look like a weather-worn metal gate.

2. Sketches are a big part of my scrapbooking process. I love how they inspire me and allow me to focus my creativity on colours, papers, embellishments and techniques. I usually go to PageMaps for sketches, but Basic Grey also shares sketches on their blog. This time they posted a sketch by designer Susan Stringfellow. Her blog is full of great sketches too! I love this one because I love double layouts.

3. Love this card!

4. The ombre trend is popping up everywhere. Zoe Nemburt aka Ceydaboo has a great post on how to create this look with Glimmer Mists. If you have every shade of blue, pink and purple Glimmer Mists -- and I may have more than a few colours in my Glimmer Mist collection -- the ombre look seems pretty easy to achieve. Love Ceydaboo's canvas.

5. Starbucks has a Pumpkin Spice Latte and Lily Bee Design has an Autumn Spice collection. I can't wait to get my hands on both! Love this great layout by Lisa Dickinson featuring this great collection.

6. I've made a few mini-albums and have even started an art journal. Minis make great gifts. Kids love making them. And they're a quick way to get your pictures into an album. Plus, they're short and sweet like me. ;-)  But rarely do I see binding that is this beautiful.

7. The new Studio Calico wood veneer embellishments are fantastic. Not only are they cute, but I just learned how to use them as masks when misting. They're also made for colouring and stamping. Love how Julia Stainton transformed these wood tags with stamps.

8. Confetti is trending right now and it looks great on layouts and cards. I love how Paige Evans used flower confetti to frame her layout. Isn't this wonderful?

9. Donna Downey is showcasing altered brushes in her studio and on her blog. You have to visit her blog these to see these amazing brushes. Her last post included so many good ones. If I have to pick a favourite, it would be this one because "I am enough" resonates with me right now.

10. There were so many great Hallowe'en collections released at CHA, but the Lost and Found Hallowe'en from My Mind's Eye was my favourite. I don't know if it was because of the soft orange in the paper or the bling or the embellies, but I just loved it and can't wait to use it. Found this cool pennant from Thienly Azim.

11. My Mind's Eye just released a new collection -- Lost & Found 3 Ruby. Featuring a gorgeous palette of pink, red, gray and cream, it's easy to imagine using this collection in Christmas layouts. But I think it would work well for everyday moments, picnics and Valentine's Day. I think it's gorgeous!

12. Stephanie Ackerman makes some beautiful art. I believe she's coming to Canada in 2013 to teach. I hope she's close to Ottawa so I can take one of her classes!! I love her "love."

I hope you loved the first Nat Noted as much as I loved writing it. See you next week!
